Monday, March 31, 2003 ( 5:41 PM ) Sarah Mae According to the Macaroni Grill's Pasta Personality test I am: "strong, earthy and fresh. Independent and unique, you don't worry too much about what other people think. Spending quality time with your family is very satisfying to you. Taking your own path has made all the difference." # ( 5:39 PM ) Sarah Mae Went on a date with a friend of a friend on Saturday. We were going to go to a concert but ended up seeing Dreamcatcher after eating at Macaroni Grill. Went pretty well. Dreamcatcher wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it did have the only black character, Morgan Freeman, as a psycho who almost causes Earth's destruction. # ( 5:34 PM ) Sarah Mae Reading log updated # Saturday, March 29, 2003 ( 9:50 AM ) Sarah Mae I'm very disappointed that the Terps lost yesterday. I was hoping they would at least make it to the Final Four. Last night I went out to dinner with my aunt and uncle. We went to Houstons. It was incredible! I had the ribs and the just fell off the bone. The apple cobbler was also wonderful. Then we watched Monsoon Wedding on DVD. I liked it just as much as I did the first time I saw it. # ( 9:35 AM ) Sarah Mae Reading Log updated # Friday, March 28, 2003 ( 1:34 PM ) Sarah Mae I watched Kissing Jessica Stein last weekend. It was funny and interesting. It also had a good ending. # ( 1:31 PM ) Sarah Mae Reading Log updated # ( 10:26 AM ) Sarah Mae Spring Break has been very relaxing for me. This is the first day this week I've had to work since Sunday, and the room has been empty so far. My supervisor is even leaving, but I'll be here til 11. Then I get a two hour break and I'm back from 1-3. I've mostly been reading, so I will update my reading log for all of you that actually look at it. Last night it was really windy and the power went off at about 7:30. I lit candles and listened to my clock radio and read. At 9:15 the power came back on. Then, after having returned candles to their places and settling in to watch TV, the power went back out from 9:30 to 11:30. Of course it was only for the few blocks around my building. I walked down the street to the grocery store and everything was fine there. # Sunday, March 23, 2003 ( 2:17 PM ) Sarah Mae Rollerskating went really well, although it made me very tired. Amazingly it didn't make me very sore. There were only a few falls and no injuries. We happened to go on church youth group night. I had no idea until a man came up and said that they were wondering what church we were from. I'm sure they were since we were the only racially-mixed group there. Anyway, it was lots of fun and they played We Are Blessed which I remembered from Gospel Choir. I also watched Love and Basketball which I thought was going to be good but turned out to be incredibly cheesy. # Friday, March 21, 2003 ( 3:29 PM ) Sarah Mae Well, it's getting to be the end of finals week here at UCLA. I'm finishing up by working in MMS and getting very excited about my rollerskating party tonight. I even have a special outfit. I got these kneesocks with rollerskates on them that I will wear with a skirt and a t-shirt. It will be very cute. I haven't been rollerskating since high school, at least that's the last time I remember rollerskating. Hmmm. # Wednesday, March 19, 2003 ( 4:48 PM ) Sarah Mae On Monday I finished up my coursework for the quarter by giving my portfolio presentation. I cried and made everyone else cry too. Afterwards some of us went to happy hour at Acapulcos. Then some of us headed over to the HMS Bounty to meet up with the Depressed Library Students Social Club. A good time was had by all, especially me as I had 2 margaritas, 1 rum and coke, and 1 Anchor Steam. Listened to at work today: Virgin Recommends Volume 7 and Blast From the Past promotional e-cd. # Friday, March 14, 2003 ( 5:09 PM ) Sarah Mae Last night I hung out with some people from work. We drank 40s and watched "Are You Hot?" That is one of the stupidest shows I've ever seen. I got 3 boxes of Thin Mints from my parents and a cute t-shirt and pants set from my Grandma that has pooh and piglet on it. There has also been a lot of good news lately: babies and wedding announcements. Kinda makes you feel warm and fuzzy. What I listened to at work: Thursday: Better Than Ezra- Closer, Liz Phair- Exile in Guyville Friday: Better Than Ezra- Closer # ( 12:22 PM ) Sarah Mae Happy Birthday to Me! (yesterday) # Monday, March 10, 2003 ( 8:55 PM ) Sarah Mae Well, I turned in my portfolio revisions today along with a crappy paper. The class is pass/fail so I can't imagine that after all the work I did I will fail because my paper was crappy. Anyway, I will feel much better after Wednesday when I turn in my last assignments and give two presentations. Then I just need to prepare a presenation for Monday. I think that one won't be two hard beacuse I'll just reflect on how I came to the program and where I'm going once I graduate. # Friday, March 07, 2003 ( 12:56 PM ) Sarah Mae Reading Log Updated # ( 12:06 PM ) Sarah Mae Well, the quarter is winding down. I have two papers due on Monday and two presentations and papers due on Wednesday. Then on St. Patrick's Day I have another presentation. Lot's on work to do this weekend. I am also planning my birthday celebration which will be rollerskating, most probably the Friday of finals week. Listened to at work yesterday: Weezer (blue), Norah Jones, Macy Gray New favorite dancing song: Ignition (remix)- R. Kelly # Monday, March 03, 2003 ( 8:17 PM ) Sarah Mae On another note, I have now memorized my 14 digit LAPL library card number from typing it in so many times to request books from other branches. # ( 8:16 PM ) Sarah Mae I never did give credit for the name of this blog. The name was inspired by the creation last Spring of the Depressed Library Students Social Club. They've had two outings so far, although I was only able to make it to the first one. I look forward to what they plan for the end of this quarter. # ( 8:11 PM ) Sarah Mae Well, I'm almost finished with my final reading log for Children's Literature. I'm just waiting for a picture book to arrive at the library so I can read and evaluate it. My enrollment appointment started at 4:30pm today for Spring Quarter. Unfortunately that was not soon enough. Two of the three classes I want to take are filled. Only one of them, Library Services and Programs for Children, has a waitlist (I'm #4). This class is also on Saturday morning! The other one is a seminar with an enrollment cap of 15 students. The professor is from another department and she's supposed to be really good. I've emailed her explaining that I would really like to take the class and this is my only opportunity, etc. and asked if I should just show up for the first class and see if someone drops. Hopefully, she'll email me back. If not, I'll show up for the first class anyway and see if I can squeeze in. This is the only quarter where I've had this happen and of course I had to turn in my Spring quarter work schedule last week. # |
